Many people get stuck in the path when it comes to to start writing their own spells. What advise would you give that person who is afraid to get started?

Read, study and discuss a lot before you start your practice. That sort of advice is applicable in all areas of paganism, but particularly with something as iffy as a spell. One wrong turn of phrase is enough to make it go downhill real quick, which is why I feel you should study every existing spell from every angle before even attempting to write your own.

I started writing my own spells about two months ago and can say that they have gone well. The best advice I could give, I think, is to remember that it is all about intent. Focus... Know what you want and visualize it. Everything you do in your spell, your herbs, your props, colors and candles, all need to represent your intent. When you are casting, take time to visualize and focus. See what you want to happen, see how things will be after this things happens. Visualize everything and be specific about what you want to happen... That is my advice...

Is there a resource I can go to to learn about spells? Being a complete novice, I will most likely be asking a lot of questions like this.

I have read several books and such and I still go back to Ann Moura's Grimoire for the Green Witch... To me, for a novice, it is simple, full info, and very not overwhelming. I love it! Many also like Scott Cunningham's Book of Shadows... I am currently reading this one... lifesmysticaljourney.com/Books%20Book%20of%20Shadows.htm
