This hot Ginger Tea (From Thailand) recipe is not only healthy, but also wonderfully soothing and aromatic in the cold season.
Ginger root has great digestive and immune system boosting qualities. It is a great cold remedy, as it suppresses coughing, reduces fever, and treats inflammation and congestion. ... The toasted pine nuts give this Asian inspired Ginger Tea recipe a silken smooth touch. And it tastes soooo yummy!
Ingredients: 1 quart water 1/3 lb fresh Ginger root, peeled and thinly sliced, smashed 1 cup dark brown sugar A pinch of salt 1/4 cup toasted pine nuts
Combine water, Ginger root, brown sugar, and salt in medium-sized saucepan. Simmer partially covered over medium-low heat for 30 minutes. Simmer longer if stronger Tea is desired.
Strain and serve in small tea cups. Add 2 teaspoons of pine nuts to each cup of tea.
Tip: To make Almond Ginger Tea, add 1 tablespoon of Almond liqueur to 1 cup of tea.
